The Central Recruitment Agency has approved the establishment of a National Recruitment Agency to facilitate the recruitment process for non-gazetted posts in central government and public sector banks. The new agency will conduct a General Eligibility Test (CET) for all competitive exams.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced the proposal of the National Recruitment Agency in the Union Budget 2020. The Union Budget cited the new agency as "an independent, professional, expert agency and exam, known as the General Eligibility Test. Selection for government jobs." The NRA acts as the primary one-window agency for shortlisting eligible candidates from most candidates to the SSC, IBPS, etc.

In its announcement, the government has allocated ₹ 1,517.57 crore for the Union Cabinet NRA. This cost will be utilized over a period of 3 years. “Apart from establishing the NRA, it will be used to set up testing infrastructure in 117 aspiring districts,” it said.

Commenting on the benefits of a general exam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "The National Recruitment Agency proves to be a boon for young people over the years. It is a great qualification test, along with avoiding many tests and saving valuable time and resources. This is a great boost to transparency."

Things you need to know about general qualification test ..!

1) The National Recruitment Agency, SSC and IBPS and RRB will conduct the entrance examination.

2) Recruitment of Group-B (not gazetted), Group-C (non-technical) and clerical posts in the government and various equivalent appointments in public sector banks are done through CET. The NRA will conduct preliminary examinations for all these appointments.

3) Multi-Agency Conducts Separate CET for 3rd Level Graduate, Higher Secondary (12th Pass) and Matriculate (10th Pass) Candidates.

4) On the basis of screening done at the CET score level, the final selection for recruitment will be made through the examination of separate Special Grades (II, III etc.), which will be conducted by the respective recruitment agencies.

5) CET score is valid for 3 years. The statement said that there would be no restriction on the number of attempts of a candidate to attend the upper age limit.

6) About 2.5-3 crore job seekers attend government jobs or banking jobs every year. One time application through CET is enough.

7) "This test is generally the syllabus of the test. It does not require the candidate to prepare for the exam separately, according to the various exams currently underway," the statement said.

8) The general candidates will not select the facilities and centers to register on the portal. They are given centers based on availability.

9) "CET is available in several languages ​​which give people from different parts of the country an equal opportunity to take the exam and get selected.

10) With the same general entrance exam, applicants do not need to spend money to fill out different applications for different jobs. The cost of travel for various tests will also be saved.

11) Since there is no need to travel elsewhere to take recruitment exams, we will set up NRA test centers in every district of the country to help young people, especially women from rural and remote areas of the country. The Union Cabinet said in its announcement.

13) This will help to reduce the difficulty of candidates who spend a lot of time, money and effort preparing and giving these exams every year.

14) Women candidates, especially in rural areas, face multiple exams. The reason is the problem of transportation and location. So the government has said that proper arrangements will be made to stay in remote places.
